Bucks County’s Newtown, not Newtown Square in Delaware County. A colonial borough core plus thousands of township homes built since 1970.
Newtown Borough’s historic district holds 293 contributing buildings from the late 1600s to the early 1900s, Greek Revival and Federal and Queen Anne along Chancellor, Liberty, Congress and Court Streets, with steep roofs, dormers, box gutters and slate. Newtown Township is most of the rest: Newtown Grant, Newtown Crossing, Eagleton Farms, Devonshire, Wiltshire Walk and the Ridings of Newtown, built from the 1970s onward on architectural asphalt.
On the newer developments the work is usually builder-grade valleys, thin step flashing and pipe boots reaching the end of their life. In the borough it is slate, box gutters and copper. We price the repair honestly before we price the replacement, and we file with the right authority: HARB and Borough Council inside the district, Newtown Township’s codes and zoning department outside it.
The full Maze Roofing range, residential and commercial, from the local team.
Shingle, tile, metal and flat roofing for homes and townhomes across the area.
Shingle, tile, metal, flat and TPO. Managed from tear-off to cleanup.
Flat, TPO and metal systems, with maintenance programs that protect the asset.
Storm damage, active leaks and fallen trees, with 24/7 phone response.
The borough’s 293 historic buildings answer to HARB and Borough Council, while the township’s planned communities answer to its own codes and zoning department, and the roofs themselves are nothing alike.
Box gutters, slate and copper flashing on the oldest houses off State Street.
Newtown Grant and Newtown Crossing roofs are now past the age where valleys start leaking.
Ice-and-water membrane and working attic ventilation at every overhang, valley and skylight curb.
Newtown Borough and Newtown Township are separate filings, and we submit the right one.
Same office, same crews, a short drive away.

Newtown in Bucks County, where Route 413 and Route 332 meet, southeast of Doylestown. Newtown Square is a different place in Delaware County on the other side of Philadelphia. We cover both, but the permitting and the housing stock are nothing alike, so it matters which one you mean when you call.
Newtown Borough or Newtown Township, depending on your address, never Bucks County. Inside the borough historic district HARB comes first: the board reviews the exterior and recommends, Borough Council issues the certificate of appropriateness, then the building permit follows. Township addresses go to the codes and zoning department directly. We handle the filing either way.
That is the common call from Newtown Grant and the other planned communities. Closed-cut valleys built fast, with the shingle trimmed tight and no valley membrane underneath, start letting water in well before the shingles wear out. It is usually a valley rebuild, not a roof replacement, and we will say so.
Bring it to HARB and ask. The board weighs material, texture and color on anything visible from a public street, and a good synthetic slate in the right size and color is an easier conversation than asphalt on a house that was always slate. We prepare the submission with samples and photographs.
