The name belongs to a national park; the permits belong to Schuylkill Township. Roof replacement for the houses in between.
Valley Forge is best known as a national park, but there is a residential Valley Forge as well, a small settled area in Schuylkill Township on the Chester County side of the river. Houses sit along the roads that feed the park, a mix of older stone and frame properties and mid-century infill, most of them under heavy hardwood cover. The Schuylkill River and Valley Creek set the low ground.
Because the postal name is famous, people assume some other body governs the work. It does not. We handle roof replacement the same way we would anywhere in the county, with a deck inspection, ice-and-water membrane at the eaves, balanced attic ventilation and architectural shingle. The permit is issued by Schuylkill Township under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code.

Storm damage, active leaks and fallen trees, with 24/7 phone response.
Living next to protected open space changes the tree cover and the wildlife on your roof, but the permit, the inspection and the code all still run through the township.
Leaves and twigs in the valleys hold water long after the rain stops.
Slopes that never dry out grow moss and algae faster than sunny ones.
Houses near the creek deal with humidity in the attic as well as rain.
Schuylkill Township issues the roofing permit and performs the inspection for Valley Forge addresses.
Same office, same crews, a short drive away.
Not for an ordinary residential replacement. The permit comes from Schuylkill Township, which administers the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code for this area, and the park has no role in what happens on a private roof. We apply, post the permit and meet the township inspector.
Algae. It feeds on the limestone filler in asphalt shingle and shows worst on shaded north slopes, which is most of them under this much tree cover. It is cosmetic at first. New shingles with copper granules resist it, and trimming branches back helps more than washing.
With mature hardwoods overhead, twice a year is realistic: once after leaf drop and once in late spring. Clogged valleys and full gutters push water backward under the shingle edge, and that is a slow leak you do not see until the ceiling shows it.
Yes, with some planning. We check the drive for overhead clearance and soft ground before scheduling the dumpster and the material delivery, because a stuck truck costs a day. Our Wayne office at (267) 692-2511 covers Chester County and can walk the access with you.
