A borough completely surrounded by a township with the same name, and two different code offices to keep straight.
Hatfield is two municipalities. The borough, a little over a square mile, is entirely surrounded by Hatfield Township, and mail and habit blur the line constantly. Inside the borough, Broad Street and Main Street carry Route 463 and the housing is close-set: twins, frame houses and modest detached homes from the rail and factory years, with the old Reading branch still running through.
Getting the municipality right is step one, because the borough and the township run separate code offices. For a borough address the roofing permit and inspection come from Hatfield Borough under the PA Uniform Construction Code. From there it is a tear-off, decking check, ice-and-water at eaves and valleys, and architectural asphalt.

Storm damage, active leaks and fallen trees, with 24/7 phone response.
Twins and narrow detached houses share walls and sight lines, so the roof work happens at the edges: party walls, porches and the gutter line.
Confirm which Hatfield your deed names before anyone files a permit application.
Attached houses need flashed shared walls, handled during tear-off and not afterward.
Low-slope front porches want metal or membrane rather than shingle at that pitch.
Borough addresses are permitted and inspected by Hatfield Borough, not Hatfield Township.
Same office, same crews, a short drive away.
Your deed and your tax bill say which, and the two are separate governments with separate code offices. It matters because the roofing permit and inspection come from whichever one you are in, under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code. We confirm it before filing rather than guessing from the mailing address.
Often. The gutter and the eave detail work together, and the fascia is only accessible while the roof edge is open. If your gutters are undersized or pitched badly, freeze-thaw will keep loading them regardless of a new roof. We quote it separately so you can see what it costs.
Move air from soffit intake to ridge exhaust so the deck stays close to outside temperature. That does two things here: it keeps the roof cold enough in winter to limit ice dams at the eaves, and it stops summer heat from cooking the shingle from underneath. Most older borough attics are short on intake.
Yes. Maze Roofing is licensed and insured, GAF Certified and BBB Accredited, and carries Pennsylvania home improvement contractor registration PA223116. Ask any roofer for that number and for a certificate of insurance before work starts. We provide both without being asked.
