Upper Merion Township, where postwar neighborhoods like Candlebrook and Gulph Mills sit next to acres of low-slope commercial roof.
King of Prussia grew around Valley Forge and the interchanges, and the housing shows it. Candlebrook, Hughes Park, Gulph Mills, Rebel Hill and the Valley Forge Homes streets are largely 1950s and 1960s ranches, split-levels and Cape Cods with simple gables and shallow pitches. Newer pockets like Brownstones at Valley Forge add townhome stock. Then there is the retail and office spine along Mall Boulevard and DeKalb Pike.
On houses we replace with architectural asphalt and rebuild the details a fast postwar build skipped: ice-and-water at the eaves, proper step flashing, real attic venting. On low-slope porches, additions and commercial sections we work in EPDM and TPO. Permits go through Upper Merion Township code enforcement, and we close them out.
The full Maze Roofing range, residential and commercial, from the local team.
Shingle, tile, metal and flat roofing for homes and townhomes across the area.
Shingle, tile, metal, flat and TPO. Managed from tear-off to cleanup.
Flat, TPO and metal systems, with maintenance programs that protect the asset.
Storm damage, active leaks and fallen trees, with 24/7 phone response.
A 1950s ranch roof drains slowly and a low-slope addition barely drains at all, so the underlayment and the membrane matter more here than the shingle color.
Low-slope ranch roofs want full ice-and-water coverage, not just a narrow strip at the eave.
EPDM and TPO on porch roofs, additions and commercial sections, detailed properly at the curbs.
Chimney, wall and step flashing from the 1950s is usually the leak, not the shingle field.
Roof permits come from Upper Merion Township, not the county, and we handle the paperwork.
Same office, same crews, a short drive away.

Yes. Upper Merion Township handles building permits and inspections for a reroof or tear-off, and it is the township that inspects, not the county. We pull it, post it and close it out as part of the job. If you are in a condo or an association, we also get whatever approval they want before anything comes off the roof.
It depends on the actual pitch. Architectural shingles are rated down to a low slope only with doubled underlayment, and below that they are the wrong system and a membrane like EPDM or TPO is right. We measure the slope before we quote, so nobody sells you shingles on a roof that will hold water.
Yes. Flat and low-slope commercial work is a real part of what Maze does, including EPDM and TPO on office, retail and warehouse roofs. The details are different from houses, curbs and drains and mechanical penetrations instead of valleys and dormers. We will walk it and tell you whether it is a repair, a coating or a tear-off.
That is usually an ice dam, not a bad shingle. Heat leaking into the attic melts snow, the water refreezes at the cold eave and backs up under the shingles until it finds the deck. Ice-and-water underlayment at the eaves buys protection, but the actual fix is insulation and ventilation, and we look at both.
