A borough that sits in two counties at once, where a Montgomery County address and a Bucks County address share the same Main Street.
Telford is unusual. The borough line crosses the Montgomery and Bucks county boundary, so neighbors a block apart can have different counties on their deeds while sharing the same streets, the same Main Street and the same borough council. Housing runs to close-set twins and detached homes from the rail era, with postwar infill behind them, and the old Reading line still cuts north to south through town.
For roofing, the county line is mostly trivia. What matters is pitch, decking condition and how the older additions were tied in. We spec architectural asphalt with ice-and-water at eaves and valleys, and we handle the permit through Telford Borough under the PA Uniform Construction Code, whichever county your parcel falls in.

Most of the borough’s roofs cover an original house plus something added later, and the joint between the two is where the water usually finds a way in.
Where a newer wing meets the original roof, flashing and slope changes need rebuilding, not patching.
Many borough roofs already carry a layer or two, which hides soft decking underneath.
Freeze-thaw here loads the gutter line, so eave protection matters more than shingle brand.
Telford Borough issues and inspects roofing permits for both its Montgomery and Bucks sections.
Same office, same crews, a short drive away.
Telford Borough does. The borough straddles the Montgomery and Bucks county line, but it is a single municipality with a single code office, so roofing permits and inspections run through the borough under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code regardless of which county your parcel sits in.
We do not recommend it. A second or third layer hides the decking, adds weight, and makes flashing details worse. A full tear-off lets us see soft sheathing, rebuild valleys, and set ice-and-water underlayment against the deck where it belongs.
Usually the tie-in, not the field of the roof. Older Telford houses have rear additions with shallower pitch than the main roof, and the step flashing where they meet was often done thin. We open that area, look at the decking, and rebuild the detail properly.
Both. Replacement is the core of our work in Montgomery County, but plenty of calls turn out to be a flashing, vent boot or valley repair. Our Wayne office at (267) 692-2511 can get an inspection scheduled, and we will tell you plainly which one your roof needs.
