An eighteenth-century Main Street with two decades of new subdivision behind it, and roofs at both extremes of age.
Trappe grew fourteen percent in the last census decade, and it shows. Route 113 runs through the old village, where Augustus Lutheran Church has stood since 1743 and the houses along Main Street are genuinely old. Behind them, subdivisions built from the late 1990s onward now cover most of the borough’s two square miles. The oldest roofs in town and the newest are within a few blocks of each other.
Those two sets of houses need different work. Historic Main Street stock gets careful flashing, decking assessment and material matching. The newer developments are reaching the point where builder-grade shingle and thin valley metal come due. Trappe Borough issues the roofing permit and inspection under the PA Uniform Construction Code.

Subdivisions built in one burst put every roof on the same clock, and the twenty-five-year shingle installed around 1999 is finishing its run now.
When a development went up at once, neighbouring roofs reach replacement age together.
Some Trappe developments set colour and material standards the estimate has to respect.
Along Main Street, chimney and sidewall flashing matter more than the shingle choice.
Trappe Borough handles roofing permits and inspections for every address in the borough.
Same office, same crews, a short drive away.
No. Your development was built in a short window, so every roof went on within a year or two of the others and they wear out together. That is normal and not a defect. It does mean it is worth getting your own inspection rather than assuming your neighbour’s diagnosis applies to you.
Yes. Trappe Borough issues roofing permits and performs the inspections under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code. The county is not involved. We file the application, coordinate the inspection, and give you the closed permit along with the manufacturer warranty registration when the job is finished.
Yes. Where an association sets colour or material standards, we supply the product data sheets and colour samples you need for the submission, and we will not order material until you have the approval in hand. It adds a week or two to the schedule, so it is worth starting early.
It bruises the mat and knocks granules loose, which is not always visible from the ground. Summer storms come through here with wind and hail together, and the damage often shows up as accelerated aging a season or two later. An inspection after a hard storm documents it while it is fresh.
