Crossroads villages along the Perkiomen Creek, farmhouse stock and large-lot new build. Roofing matched to rolling, heavily wooded ground.
Upper Salford is rolling open country dotted with timber stands and a handful of crossroads villages: Woxall, Salfordville, Bergey, Salford and Spring Mount. Routes 63 and 563 carry most of the traffic, Old Skippack Road and the Sumneytown Pike carry the history, and the Perkiomen Creek runs through the middle. Housing ranges from stone and frame farmhouses to detached homes on large wooded lots.
Two very different roofs, then. Old farm buildings want careful flashing where generations of additions meet, and at chimneys built of fieldstone. Newer large-lot homes want ventilation that works under deep shade. We check the attic in both cases. Roofing permits are issued by Upper Salford Township under the PA Uniform Construction Code.

Mature tree cover keeps slopes damp well past a rain, which grows moss on north faces and fills valleys and gutters with needles and leaf litter.
North slopes under mature canopy hold moisture and grow moss that lifts shingle edges.
Leaf and needle pack in a valley dams water sideways and rots the decking beneath.
Additions built over generations leave junctions and chimneys that need flashing rebuilt, not resealed.
Upper Salford Township issues roof permits under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, not the county.

Upper Salford Township. In Pennsylvania the township is the permitting authority under the Uniform Construction Code, and Montgomery County has no role in a residential roof permit. We prepare and submit the application, then coordinate the inspection so you are not chasing it. Addresses on the Marlborough side of Woxall permit through Marlborough Township instead.
Light and airflow, mostly. Moss returns on slopes that stay wet, so trimming back limbs that overhang the roof does more than any coating. Keeping valleys and gutters clear matters too. On a replacement, copper-bearing granules slow regrowth, but the shade itself is the thing to address.
Look at the seams and the fasteners before the panels. Standing-seam metal on a porch or bay often has decades left once the seams are reworked and the fastener holes are dealt with properly. Coating over a failing seam buys a season. We will tell you which of the two you are looking at.
All of it. Our Wayne office covers Montgomery County, and that includes Woxall, Salfordville, Bergey, Salford and Spring Mount along with the farms between them. Long driveways and wooded access are normal here, and we plan dumpster placement and material staging at the estimate rather than on the morning of the job.
