The Delaware on one side, the Rancocas on the other, and the name came from both. Roofing built for Delanco’s exposed river edge.
Delanco is a small township pinched between the Delaware River and the Rancocas Creek, and its name is a contraction of the two. It was laid out for building lots in the 1840s, so the older blocks near the river are frame houses with porches and steep pitches, while postwar and later streets fill in toward Route 130. Nothing stands between the river blocks and the weather.
On the exposed streets we set fastening and starter courses for wind, then pay close attention to ridge caps and rake edges, which are what actually leave in a nor’easter. Porch and bay roofs get metal where the pitch is too low for shingle. The permit comes from the Delanco Township construction office under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code.

Gusts coming up the Delaware find the rake, the ridge and the first course, which is why edge detailing matters more here than shingle brand ever will.

Same office, same crews, a short drive away.
Ridge cap and first-course loss is the usual wind pattern, and it matters because it opens the ridge vent line and the rake edge. A repair can restore it if the rest of the roof is sound. If the same thing has happened twice, the fastening pattern is the real problem.
Two things. Wind arrives with nothing to slow it, so edges and ridges need better fastening than the minimum. And humidity is higher, so attic airflow matters more; a poorly vented deck near the water shows condensation staining that people often mistake for a leak.
The Delanco Township construction office, under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. It is municipal, not county. We file the application, post the permit, and meet the inspector, and you end up with a closed permit that a buyer’s agent will ask for later on.
Small low-pitch roofs over bays and porches are the wrong place for shingle. Standing-seam or soldered metal sheds at that angle and takes the snow that slides off the main roof above. The other half of the fix is flashing where the bay roof meets the wall.
