Berlin Township is not Berlin Borough, and the permit follows the line. Roof replacement across West Berlin and the Route 73 corridor.
Camden County has a Berlin Borough and a Berlin Township, and they are separate governments with separate construction offices. Berlin Township is the smaller of the two, and most of its housing sits in the West Berlin area off Route 73: post-war ranches and Capes, 1970s and 1980s colonials, and newer infill on what used to be pine and farm ground.
Getting the municipality right is the first thing we check, because a permit filed with the wrong Berlin wastes a week. Then we deal with the roof: full tear-off, new ice-and-water at the eaves and valleys, balanced ventilation, and flashing rebuilt at every wall. Berlin Township’s construction office issues the permit and inspects the work under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code.
The full Maze Roofing range, residential and commercial, from the local team.
Shingle, tile, metal and flat roofing for homes and townhomes across the area.
Shingle, tile, metal, flat and TPO. Managed from tear-off to cleanup.
Flat, TPO and metal systems, with maintenance programs that protect the asset.
Storm damage, active leaks and fallen trees, with 24/7 phone response.
Two neighboring municipalities share a name, so addresses get filed with the wrong office, and a homeowner finds out when the inspector does not show.
We confirm the block and lot before filing so the permit lands with Berlin Township.
Needles from the surrounding pine pack valleys and gutters and hold moisture on the shingle.
Colonials from that decade commonly need new pipe boots, ridge vent and valley metal.
Berlin Township’s construction office, not Berlin Borough and not the county, permits your roof.
Same office, same crews, a short drive away.
They are different municipalities and a West Berlin mailing address can fall in either, so it is worth confirming. Your tax bill and your block and lot number will tell you, and we check it before we file anything. The permit has to go to the municipality that actually governs your parcel.
Berlin Township’s own construction office, under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. Berlin Borough cannot permit a township address and Camden County does not issue roofing permits at all. We submit the application, pull the permit, and schedule the final inspection with the township.
It can. A packed valley holds water against the shingle instead of letting it run, and in winter that mat freezes and backs water up under the laps. Keeping valleys and gutters clear helps a lot, and on a replacement we run open metal valleys where debris load is heavy.
At forty years the shingles are past their designed life, and the accessories are effectively older still. Expect new pipe boots, new valley metal, a proper ridge vent and some sheathing repair. We open a small area during the estimate so the number is based on what is actually there.
