East Greenwich Township grew by three quarters in a single decade. Mickleton’s newest roofs are now old enough to need looking at.
Mickleton is the largest of East Greenwich Township’s village names, off County Route 551 and close to Interstate 295. The township’s population jumped seventy-six percent in the two thousands and another twenty-two percent in the decade after, and the housing shows it: large subdivision colonials, dimensional shingle, a lot of hips and dormers per house. The older Mickleton crossroads stock is still there, but it is now the minority.
Subdivision roofs come with governance. Many associations here have rules about shingle color and profile, and getting that approval in writing before material is ordered avoids an expensive argument. We handle the association paperwork alongside the permit, which is issued and inspected by the East Greenwich Township construction office under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code.

The association usually publishes an approved color and profile list, and we match the quote to it before ordering. If you want something outside that list, the request goes to the board. We would rather wait two weeks for a written approval than tear off and find out after.
East Greenwich Township, through its construction office, under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. Mickleton is a village and census place within the township, not a separate municipality, so everything files there. We pull the permit and meet the inspector ourselves.
Not necessarily too early, and not automatically time either. Builder-grade three-tab from that era often gives out around twenty years, while dimensional shingle can run longer. An inspection of the valleys, the flashing and the granule loss tells you which one you have.
Hipped and dormered designs look good and create a lot of intersections, and every intersection is a place water concentrates. It matters at installation: valleys need proper metal or a woven detail plus ice-and-water underlayment, not just a shingle lapped across the crease.
