A small river borough built around the port and the refinery. Early 1900s housing on tight lots, taking wind straight off the Delaware.
Paulsboro is a small borough on the Delaware, separated from Greenwich Township in 1904 and built up around the port and the refinery. Its housing is mostly early twentieth century: twins, row-style frames and modest singles on tight lots, with Billingsport out at the river end. The population peaked in 1960, so nearly all of these roofs have been replaced at least once and many more than that.
Maze Roofing looks first at what the previous work left behind, which on this stock usually means layered shingle and reused flashing at the party wall and the chimney. Edges get fastened for the wind that comes off open water. The Borough of Paulsboro construction office issues the permit under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code.

On attached and closely spaced housing the trouble starts where one roof meets a party wall or a chimney, not out in the open shingle.
Where two roofs meet a shared wall, the flashing detail is the whole job.
Decades of reroofing leave stacked layers and decking nailed through repeatedly.
Gusts off the Delaware lift rake edges and ridge caps on exposed borough streets.
The Borough of Paulsboro construction office issues the roof permit under state code.
Same office, same crews, a short drive away.
It makes the wall detail the most important part of the job. The flashing where your roof meets the shared wall has to be installed properly and tied in, and if your neighbor reroofs later that detail gets disturbed again. We document what we did so the next contractor has something to work with.
From the Borough of Paulsboro construction office, under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. Paulsboro is its own municipality, so nothing goes through Gloucester County. Maze Roofing files the permit before the tear-off and coordinates the inspection with the borough once the work is done.
Quite a lot, because the borough sits low and open to the channel. The exposed parts are the rake edge, the eave and the ridge, and those are the details worth spending on. Bonded starter course, tight drip edge and properly fastened caps are what keep an ordinary storm ordinary.
Yes, and it is better that it does. Three layers hide whatever the decking is doing, put weight on framing that was never sized for it, and leave every old flashing problem in place. Tearing off to the deck costs more in disposal and is the only way to know what you have.
