Golden Gate is the largest census community in Collier County, around twenty-five thousand people packed into four square miles of dense platted grid inside a canal system. The median age is thirty-six and nearly two thirds of residents are Hispanic. Locals call it Golden Gate City, or just the City, to distinguish it from the Estates.
That distinction matters. Golden Gate City is compact, workforce housing on small lots. Golden Gate Estates is fifty-three thousand acres of two-acre parcels. They are completely different places and completely different roofing jobs, and we keep them separate.
