Goodland is a small fishing village at the southeast corner of Marco Island, around three hundred residents at about seven feet of elevation, with more water inside its boundary than land. It is reached over the Stan Gober bridge from Marco and it has kept a working waterfront character that the island itself largely lost.
Irma put five to six feet at the waterfront and three to four feet across the rest of the village. Housing here is small, older and often elevated, with a real share of manufactured stock, and all of it sits in salt air.
