Immokalee is the second largest population centre in Collier County, around twenty-four and a half thousand people across twenty-three square miles in the agricultural east. The median age is twenty-nine, three quarters of residents are Hispanic and around a fifth are Black. It is a year-round working community, not a seasonal one.
It is genuinely nothing like Naples, and it should not be treated as though it is. There is a great deal of older and manufactured housing here, real financial pressure on households, and a lot of storm damage that was never properly documented. The right work is honest repair, clear records and no invented urgency.
