Marco Shores and Hammock Bay sit together on the mainland just north of Marco Island, off Collier Boulevard before the Jolley Bridge. Around nine hundred and fifty people live here, and it became a census place in its own right in 2020.
It is close enough to the water for salt and surge to matter, but it is not on the island, which means county permitting rather than the City of Marco Island. That distinction catches people out regularly, and getting it wrong costs weeks.
