Buckingham sits in the rural northeast of Lee County between Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, eighteen square miles of large-lot and agricultural land. It has the historic Buckingham School and the remains of the wartime gunnery airfield whose runways now sit inside the Lehigh Acres boundary.
At only eight per cent vacancy and over sixty per cent married-couple households it is a settled, owner-occupied rural community. Out here a roofing job is rarely just the house: barns, workshops and equipment buildings come with it, and access matters as much as the roof does.
