Local Roofing In Sanibel

Nine to thirteen feet of water, and the causeway gone

Sanibel took nine to thirteen feet of surge from Ian and lost its only road at the same time. The causeway was breached, cutting the island off entirely, and emergency access did not return for fifteen days. The permanent rebuild, with a hundred and twenty-eight thousand tons of granite armour stone, was finished in May 2025.
The island also regulates more tightly than anywhere else in the county. Sanibel incorporated in 1974 specifically to control what got built, and the Sanibel Plan still governs. Any building over two storeys here predates incorporation. It is not a place to assume what will be approved.

Roofing In Sanibel

The most regulated island in the county

The Sanibel Plan governs land use, the building department enforces to it, and the island has its own floodplain management plan on top.

Island rules

We confirm what the Sanibel building department will approve before quoting, not after.

Salt on all sides

A barrier island means fixings and flashing corrode long before the covering does.

Rebuilt roofs

Much of the island was re-roofed at once after Ian, under real time pressure.

One way on

Everything comes over the causeway. Access and staging genuinely affect the schedule.

Sanibel FAQ

Common questions

Are there restrictions on what roof I can put on Sanibel?

Are there restrictions on what roof I can put on Sanibel?

Sanibel regulates development more tightly than anywhere else in Lee County, under the Sanibel Plan, and the building department enforces to it. We confirm directly with them what is permitted for your specific property before quoting, rather than assuming. It is not an island where guessing pays.

Yes. A great deal of Sanibel was re-roofed in a short window while the island was still difficult to reach, and not all of it was detailed as carefully as it would have been in normal times. We look at fastening, flashing and the permit record and give you a straight answer.

It adds logistics rather than drama. Everything crosses the causeway, staging space is limited, and there is no supply yard on the island. We price that in openly rather than discovering it mid-job and coming back to you.

Yes. An estimate costs you nothing and carries no obligation. If the roof has years left, we will say so.
