Gloucester County runs from the Delaware River at Paulsboro and Gibbstown southeast toward the farms. Each of the county’s municipalities runs its own construction office under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code, so a Washington Township job is filed with Washington Township and a Harrison Township job with Harrison. New Jersey also requires a registered home improvement contractor on the paperwork. We file it, meet the inspector, and close the permit out.

That is an ice dam, and it usually starts in the attic. Warm air leaking up melts snow on the upper slope, the water runs down to the cold eave and refreezes into a ridge that backs water under the shingles. Air sealing and ventilation fix the cause. Ice-and-water membrane at the eaves and valleys handles the rest at replacement.
Inspections go on a normal calendar and active leaks move to the front of it.
