Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey by land area, and it changes character three times on the way across. The river towns of Palmyra, Riverton and Burlington City hold nineteenth-century frame and brick houses with steep pitches and porch roofs. A 1910 river-town roof, a Levitt ranch in Willingboro and a 1998 colonial in Mount Laurel fail in three different places, so the inspection matters more than the brochure.

New Jersey permitting is municipal, so the application goes to the construction office in Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Medford, Willingboro or wherever you live, under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. The state also requires the contractor doing the work to hold home improvement contractor registration. We file the permit and close out the inspection.
