Local Roofing In Springfield

Stone fronts from the 1950s boom

This is Springfield Township in Delaware County, off Baltimore Pike and Sproul Road, not the Springfield in Montgomery County. It went from mill creeks to subdivisions in one generation. Stoney Creek went up between 1949 and 1954 with stone-front houses that let buyers pick their own porch and window placement, and Scenic Hills, Rolling Green, Beatty Hills and Colonial Park followed the same pattern: single-family colonials, ranches and split-levels on modest lots.
Roofs from that era are simple, which helps: straightforward gable runs, a few dormers, and low-slope additions added later. We replace in architectural asphalt, vent the attic properly, band the eaves and valleys with ice-and-water, and use membrane on flat rear sections. Permits go through Springfield Township’s building department, and we handle the application and the final inspection.

Roofing In Springfield

Springfield's roofs are all the same age.

A township built mostly in a fifteen-year stretch after the war reaches the end of its second and third roof at roughly the same time.

Storm damage in Springfield?
24/7 emergency leak and tarp response.

Second and third roofs

Layers from earlier replacements come off rather than get covered again, so the deck is checked.

Attic ventilation

Ridge and soffit venting sized to the attic is what stops ice dams and cooked shingles.

Algae streaking

Dark streaks on north slopes are algae, cosmetic, and slowed by shingles with copper granules.

Township permits

Springfield Township issues the permit under state code, and we close out the inspection.

Springfield FAQ

Common questions

Is this Springfield in Delaware County or Montgomery County?

Is this Springfield in Delaware County or Montgomery County?

This is Springfield Township in Delaware County, the one at Baltimore Pike and Sproul Road. There is another Springfield Township in Montgomery County, up near Flourtown. We work both sides of that line, but the codes office, the inspector and the forms are different, so it matters which Springfield your address sits in.

The township building department, not Delaware County. Pennsylvania permits residential roofing municipally under the Uniform Construction Code. We file for your address, keep our license and insurance paperwork current, and close the permit out once the work passes inspection. Nobody should hand you an open permit at the end of a job.

Not on age alone. We look at granule loss, the state of the valleys and flashing, nail pops, and what the deck and attic look like from below. Plenty of 22-year-old roofs have five good years left, and plenty have one failing valley worth fixing now. No scare tactics, just what we find.

We do not, and it is usually a false economy. A layover hides deck damage, cannot take ice-and-water membrane at the eaves properly, and shortens the new shingles’ life by holding heat. Tearing off also lets us see the sheathing on these 1950s houses, where a bad valley has often been leaking quietly for years.
