Our Pennsylvania office sits on King of Prussia Road. Victorian, stone and slate roofs across North Wayne, South Wayne and St. Davids.
Wayne was laid out as a planned Main Line development in the 1880s and it still shows. Deep-porched Victorians fill North and South Wayne, stone twins sit close to the station, and the houses get larger heading north toward Ithan and Strafford. The rooflines are steep and busy: dormers, turrets, slate, cedar, copper valleys, and porch roofs pitched far flatter than the house they attach to.
That mix decides the job. Slate and cedar get matched and repaired where the deck and the nails allow it, low-slope porch sections get a membrane rather than shingle laid at a pitch it was never made for, and copper stays copper. Radnor Township issues the permits.

Much of Wayne predates asphalt shingle, so the work here is as much about flashing, valleys and matching material as it is about the open field of the roof.
Matched and repaired where it makes sense, replaced only when the deck says so.
Valleys, step flashing and chimney work detailed to last as long as the roof does.
Deep Victorian porches need a membrane, not shingle laid at the wrong pitch.

Only if the property sits in the North Wayne Historic District, which has a township review board. South Wayne and the downtown are listed on the National Register, and that listing on its own does not control your roof. We check which one applies to your address before anything is ordered.
Usually not. Slate fails in spots long before it fails as a system, and individual pieces can be matched and reset. What decides replacement is the condition of the nails, the flashing and the deck underneath, not the number of broken slates. We will tell you which one you have.
Because it is a different roof. Wayne porches sit at a pitch too low for shingle to shed properly, and when shingle goes on anyway, water works back underneath it. The fix is a membrane across the porch and proper flashing where it meets the wall of the house.
