The township more than doubled during the 1950s, and it shows on the roofline: ranches and splits with long, shallow, unbroken slopes.
Cinnaminson went from about 2,300 residents in 1930 to over 16,000 by 1970, and nearly all of that arrived across the 1950s and 1960s. The result is a township of ranches, split-levels and bilevels on generous lots, plus older riverside blocks toward East Riverton. Route 130 and the RiverLINE run along the Delaware side. Pitches are mostly modest and the slopes are long.
Long shallow runs move water slowly, so the underlayment and the eave detail carry more of the load than they would on a steep roof. We install ice-and-water at the eaves and valleys, correct ridge and soffit ventilation, and use architectural asphalt rated for wind. Permits are filed with the Cinnaminson Township construction office under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code.

On a low-pitch ranch, wind-driven rain can travel back up a shingle course, which puts most of the burden on whatever lies underneath it.
Wind pushes rain uphill on shallow slopes, so underlayment does the real work.
Many 1950s attics have soffit vents only, or none that still breathe properly.
Freeze-thaw backs meltwater up over the wall line on long, low slopes.

Down to a point, yes. Architectural shingle performs on the modest pitches common here as long as the underlayment is upgraded and the eaves are protected. Below that threshold the honest answer is a membrane instead. We measure the pitch rather than guessing, because the wrong system on a flat run will leak regardless of workmanship.
The Cinnaminson Township construction office, under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. It handles the permit and the final inspection for every address in the township, East Riverton included. We file it, meet the inspector and close it out as part of the job.
Usually the attic is not breathing. A lot of houses here were built with soffit venting only, and decades of insulation work have blocked what little intake there was. Without intake, ridge vents cannot pull. Correcting the balance during a replacement cools the upper floor and stops cooking the new shingles from below.
That roof is at the age where the details go before the field does. We check the valley metal, the pipe boots, the chimney flashing and whether the 2002 crew tore off or went over. If it was an overlay, plan on a full tear-off this time.
