Levitt’s 1950s sections spread across four municipalities. Straightforward roof replacement for the original Levittown house models.
Levittown is a postal place, not a township. Its 17,311 houses went up between 1952 and 1958 across Bristol Township, Falls Township, Middletown Township and Tullytown Borough, in named sections like Thornridge, Golden Ridge and Indian Creek. Six original models repeat street after street: the Levittowner, the Rancher, the Jubilee, the Pennsylvanian, the Colonial and the Country Clubber. Roofs here are simple, shallow and old.
We replace those roofs with architectural asphalt, new ice-and-water underlayment at the eaves, and ventilation sized to the attic rather than to what was there in 1955. Where a section sits in Bristol Township, the permit comes from Bristol Township under the PA Uniform Construction Code, and we handle that filing.

Nearly every Levittown roof has been replaced at least once, and the layer that went on second often hides shortcuts at the eaves, valleys and vents.
Low-slope Levitt roofs shed water slowly, so underlayment and fastening matter more than shingle brand.
Earlier layers left over-driven nails and patched decking that we find and correct at tear-off.
Ice damming builds fast along these long, uninterrupted eaves during freeze-thaw weeks.
Levittown has no government of its own, so your permit comes from Bristol Township.

Levittown is a postal name rather than a municipality, so the permit comes from whichever township your section falls in. For the Bristol Township sections that means Bristol Township, under the PA Uniform Construction Code. We confirm the municipality from your parcel before anything gets filed.
Probably, and that is the nature of a place built in six years. Whole streets reach the end of a shingle’s life within a season or two of each other. An inspection tells you whether you have two years left or two months, which is a better basis for planning than the street.
Warm attic air melts snow on the deck, the water runs down and refreezes at the cold eave, and the dam pushes meltwater back under the shingles. The fix is ventilation and insulation plus ice-and-water membrane at the eaves. On a shallow Levitt roof that membrane is not optional.
Yes. The original three-tab look has left the market, but architectural asphalt in a mid-grey or weathered wood reads correctly on these models and lasts considerably longer. We can show you the same product on a comparable pitch before you commit to a color.
