A crossroads village in Milford Township with a Quakertown mailing address. Roofing for exposed ridgelines and open upper-county lots.
Milford Square is a crossroads village on Milford Square Pike, inside Milford Township and just east of Quakertown. The mail says Quakertown; the municipality does not. Around the old village core the land opens into fields and scattered newer houses, with the Northeast Extension and Route 663 cutting nearby. Building stock ranges from nineteenth-century frame and stone to homes built on large lots from the 1980s on.
Open ground means weather arrives with nothing in front of it. We pay particular attention to ridge cap fastening, rake and hip edges and the first courses at the eave, because those are what lift first on an exposed site. Roof permits for a Milford Square address go to Milford Township under the PA Uniform Construction Code, not to Quakertown borough.

Shingle, tile, metal and flat roofing for homes and townhomes across the area.
Shingle, tile, metal, flat and TPO. Managed from tear-off to cleanup.
Flat, TPO and metal systems, with maintenance programs that protect the asset.
Storm damage, active leaks and fallen trees, with 24/7 phone response.
On open upper-county lots the first failures show up at the ridge, the rakes and the hips, where uplift gets to the edge of a shingle before anything else does.
Caps and ridge vents on exposed ridgelines lift first, often years before the field does.
Gable ends catch the most wind, so starter courses and edge metal have to be right.
Snow sits longer at this elevation, keeping meltwater working at the eave for weeks.
Milford Township issues the roof permit, even though the mailing address reads Quakertown.

Not if the parcel is in Milford Township, which most Milford Square addresses are. Quakertown borough and Milford Township are separate municipalities that happen to share a postal name, and each handles its own permits under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code. We confirm the parcel before filing anything.
Exposure plus fastening. A ridge on open ground takes uplift from every direction, and ridge vent secured at minimum spacing will work itself loose over a few winters. Correct fastener length and pattern, plus caps installed to the manufacturer’s wind specification, is what keeps it down long term.
On a site like this it does. The shingle’s rating only applies if it is nailed the way the rating assumes, which usually means more fasteners per shingle and correct placement in the nail zone. On exposed lots we install to the higher-wind pattern as standard rather than as an upgrade.
Look along the ridge and the gable edges from the ground for lifted or missing caps, then check the gutters for a pile of granules. Inside, look at the attic sheathing near the ridge for daylight or fresh staining. If anything looks off, an inspection now is far cheaper than a soaked ceiling in March.
